Concurrent audit:checking transactions as they happen.

Most audits look back over a year. A concurrent audit checks transactions close to when they happen, usually every month, so errors and irregularities are caught before they grow. Banks and brokers need it under regulator guidelines; UK groups use it for high-volume payments, payroll and treasury in India.

What concurrent audit is.

A concurrent audit is a continuous examination of transactions at or soon after the time they occur. It is an early-warning system: instead of discovering a problem at the year-end audit, it is found within weeks, while it can still be corrected.
