When a forensic audit is needed.
A whistleblower report
An anonymous or internal complaint about wrongdoing in India.
Unexplained payments
Suppliers nobody recognises, duplicate payments or unusual approvals.
Payroll irregularities
Ghost employees, inflated salaries or expense claims.
Results that do not add up
Margins, stock or cash that do not match the business.
Disputes and claims
Partner, shareholder or contract disputes that need financial evidence.
Why UK law makes this urgent.
Under the UK Bribery Act 2010, a UK company can be liable for failing to prevent bribery by people acting on its behalf, including overseas. Since 1 September 2025, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 has added a failure to prevent fraud offence for large organisations, which can extend to fraud by associated persons such as subsidiaries and agents where there is a UK link.
Both offences have a defence of reasonable or adequate prevention procedures. A properly run investigation, and the control improvements that follow, are part of showing those procedures exist.
