Legal Entity Identifier:when you need one.

A Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a global 20-character code that identifies a company in financial transactions. In India, banks require one for large cross-border transactions, borrowing above set limits and high-value transfers. UK groups may already have LEIs; the Indian entity needs its own.

An LEI belongs to one legal entity. The UK parent's LEI does not cover the Indian subsidiary, which needs its own before a large transfer. See LEI Registration Services for how to get one.
