Ind AS Implementation

Ind AS implementation,planned and delivered.

Ind AS are India's accounting standards converged with IFRS. They apply to listed companies, larger unlisted companies and their group companies, and some companies adopt them voluntarily. We assess applicability, plan the transition, prepare the opening balance sheet and train your team, while keeping your UK group reporting in step.

A UK parent does not bring its Indian subsidiary into Ind AS. The subsidiary is tested on its own size, or on its Indian group links. Once a company adopts Ind AS, voluntarily or not, it cannot go back to the old standards.

  • LeasesInd AS 116: most leases brought on the balance sheet as right-of-use assets.
  • Financial instrumentsInd AS 109: classification, fair value and expected credit loss.

Ind AS and your UK group's IFRS.

Ind AS are largely converged with IFRS, but there are carve-outs and differences. A UK group reporting under UK-adopted IFRS will usually need a small set of adjustments to bring Ind AS figures into the group accounts. If the group reports under FRS 102, the differences are larger. See IFRS Implementation Services.

Ind AS implementation FAQs.

Only if the subsidiary is listed, has net worth of ₹250 crore or more, or is part of an Indian group that meets these tests. Being owned by a UK company does not, by itself, bring it into Ind AS.
Yes, but once adopted it cannot go back to the earlier standards.
Largely, but there are carve-outs and some differences, so small adjustments are usually needed for UK group reporting.
Usually revenue (Ind AS 115), leases (Ind AS 116) and financial instruments (Ind AS 109).
It depends on complexity, but most companies should start well before the first reporting period, as comparatives must also be restated.
